05/25 5:35 PM EST NHL (53) NEW YORK RANGERS VS (54) BOSTON BRUINS Take: (54) BOSTON BRUINS. Reason: Boston is home with a chance to close it out while the Rangers are trying to hang on, down 3-1. New York has looked uninterested for much of this series. They probably should have been swept 4-0 but the Bruins gave away Game 4 with a pair of ridiculous gift goals as they blew a 2-0 lead late on the way to a 4-3 OT defeat. But it's hard to see this anemic NY Rangers offense pulling off a miracle comeback again. The Rangers are 1-5 in their last 6 road games and 4-11 in their last 15 vs. the Northeast division. Boston has far better balance, 13th in goals scored, 3rd in the NHL in goals allowed. Three rookie defensemen have been forced to play but the kids have been great, even sparking the offense. The Bruins are 11-2 in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400. And when these teams meet the home team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings. Play the Bruins in Game 5.

San Diego is at Arizona with a weak offense, 20th in baseball in runs scored, 18th in on base percentage and 25th in slugging. A pair of starters are on the mound who don't walk anyone. San Diego right Andrew Cashner (3-2, 3.02 ERA) has been on a roll with a 2-0 record and a 1.69 ERA his last three starts walking only 5 in 21 innings. Cashner has allowed just five runs over his last three starts (21 1/3 innings). He went 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA in four appearances (two starts) against the Diamondbacks last season. The under is 4-1 in the Padres last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning record. Arizona is in the middle of the pack in offensive stats and starter Wade Miley has a 3.67 ERA and has allowed fewer hits than innings pitched. Arizona is on a 5-0 run under the total. Colorado is in town with a dynamite offense, second in baseball in runs scored, 9th in on base percentage and 4th in runs scored. That has helped them get off to a good start in a tight battle with the defending champs for first place. Starter Juan Nicasio (4-1) has been sharp and was walked only 3 his last three starts for a 3.71 ERA. It's been a great week for Colorado and the Rockies are 21-7 in their last 28 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. They face struggling veteran Barry Zito, who has an 0-2 record and a 5.40 ERA his last three starts. Colorado just beat him, too: Zito made his ninth start of the season and surrendered a run-scoring single to Carlos Gonzalez in the first and two more in the fifth. The left-hander was charged with five runs and 11 hits over 5 2/3 innings of work. He struck out four and walked two in a 5-0 defeat. Play the Rockies.

05/25 7:15 PM EST MLB (907) PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES VS (908) WASHINGTON NATIONALS Take: (907) PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES Reason: Washington has been terrible on offense, 28th in runs scored and slugging, 29th in batting average and on base percentage. The Nationals are home this weekend after a 10-game road trip out West, a bad trip, too, 4-6. Washington starter Dan Haren (4-5, 5.54 ERA) is no ace, with a 1-2 record and a 6.50 ERA his last three starts. He has a 4.91 ERA in four starts at home and is 0-3 with a 6.14 ERA against the Phillies. Philadelphia has starter Jonathan Pettibone (3-0, 3.00 ERA), who doesn't walk anyone and sports a 2.79 ERA his last three starts. The Phillies are 11-4 in their last 15 vs. the National League East and Washington has never faced Pettibone before. Play the Phillies.

05/25 7:15 PM EST MLB (925) OAKLAND ATHLETICS VS (926) HOUSTON ASTROS Take: (925) OAKLAND ATHLETICS Reason: Shoddy defense plays havoc on pitchers, another problem for the awful Astros. And it doesn't help to allow free passes, which is a problem for Houston righty Lucas Harrell (3-5, 4.63 ERA), who has walked 30 in 56 innings along with 63 hits. Houston is the worst team in the league and his offense doesn't help him, 20th in runs scored, 24th in on base percentage. The Astros are 18-43 in their last 61 home games. Oakland has been good both home and away and has had a great week. Starter A.J. Griffin (4-3, 3.59 ERA) is a decent righty and has struck out 44 in 57+ innings with only 16 walks allowed. Griffin has allowed three runs or fewer in each of his last four starts. He has allowed eight runs over 26 2/3 innings during that stretch. The Athletics are 35-16 against the AL West and the Astros are 14-60 in their last 74 vs. a team with a winning record. Play the Oakland A's.

Lefty Derek Holland (3-2, 3.30 ERA) has struck out 54 in 60 innings with only 14 walks and faces a bad Seattle offense, 25th in runs scored, 22nd in on base percentage and 20th in slugging. The under is 23-11-1 in the Rangers last 35 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Slumping Seattle has ace Felix Hernandez (5-3, 2.07 ERA), one of the best in the game, striking out 72 in 69+ innings and only 12 walks. The under is 7-2-2 in the Mariners last 11 games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600.
