Utah was 6-0 at home last season leading to them being a 10 game winner last year finishing the season at 10-3. Despite losing two of their last three regular season games they were able to finish strong winning their bowl game 37-27 over Cal in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. Pittsburgh enters the season ranked 15th in the country and has a rough start on the road at Utah. Coming into the tournament the teams from the West coast, especially the Pac-10, were expected to have limited participation in the tournament and would not be able to compete with the teams from the Midwest or the East coast. Coming into the second round with a record of 6-5, St. Mary's cruised by Villanova to stroll into the sweet 16. The question remains how many more will get in?
