Bob Wingerter
A successful handicapper should know all he can about the ability of the players on a team. He should know the coaches, their philosophy, team morale and anything else about the team that might affect it's play.
Bob Wingerter's philosophy of handicapping is serious, no-nonsense, he specializes in NFL / NCAA Football...NBA / NCAA Basketball...Major League Baseball... is back with after a 5 year retirement from offering winning selections to clients, with his vast knowledge of Football.. Basketball..Baseball. After returning in 2006, he is a DOCUMENTED award winning champion from Pro Football Weekly's National Handicappers Bowl plus many, many other awards.
Bob's GAME INSIGHT FORCASTER is not a machine or system... it is a method of handicapping that involves hard work and time. Selections are based on modern technology, long experience, discipline, an accumulation of winning edges and feel for the game. With his experience in every facet of handicapping, he knows about winning and has been doing so for over 30 years. Bob will make you a winner!
The betting line is made to create two-way action and they do a very good job, but public perception is also considered. This opens holes and opportunities and Bob exploits them. Selections will only be among the games meeting his criteria. There won’t be a bunch of statistics, trivial information, speculation and opinions that are contained in the line anyway. With the increasing infomation available from the computer, since it's inception into sports handicapping, analysis like statistics, trends, etc. have become less relevant . Let experience and insight speak for itself.
The most important part of handicapping is discipline and money management. Discipline will be reflected in the selections. Money management you must learn yourself.
Winning is directly related to your knowledge of the opposition. About 60% of all games are determined by luck or happenstance. Its the other 40% or so that separates the men from the boys.
His analogy of handicapping is that of a carpenter going to work without a hammer. A handicapper must have a bankroll.
Bob told us about a question he has been asked over the years, "should I seek help handicapping?" The answer is YES! Don't let your ego get in the way when you are risking an investment. He will be working hard along with all the handicappers on this site to ensure your success.
Quote of the week
I made a game effort to argue but two things were against me: the umpires and the rules.

Minnesota continues to roll along winning another close game Wednesday night, defeating Detroit in walk off fashion. They will try to pick up their third win in a row and stay ahead of the White Sox as Scott Baker faces Justin Verlander.
Justin Verlander has pitched very nicely since the break, with a record of 3-3 but ERA of only 3.14 ERA. He and Minnesota have gone toe to toe through his career, as he comes into this matchup with a 6-7 record and 4.00 ERA. Detroit is looking to salvage one game of this series, with poor offensive play being the reason for the first two losses scoring only four runs in the first two games. Brennan Boesch's nightmare of a second half continues as he just cannot seem to put it together, batting only .125 over the past week.
Scott Baker has been on a nice win streak of late benefiting from both good pitching and strong run support, going 5-0 in his last seven starts. Baker has really enjoyed pitching at home this season, with an 8-3 record and 3.86 ERA. Wednesday's win helps the Twins stay ahead of the White Sox who recently acquired Manny Ramirez, with Minnesota's lead remaining at four games. Joe Mauer has been in top form of the past month, batting .380 with 16 RBIs and helping Minnesota deal with the absence of Morneau. TAKE MINNESOTA MINUS HERE.

Each football season a group of mysterious gentleman leap into the sports spotlight with steam and other nonsense. The speculating public, which is essentially composed of followers, clings to every word they speak, complying and following their every lead. You know the fellows. They are referred to with reverential phrases as: "Who are THEY taking?" or "Who do THEY like?"
Note: John Wall was excluded from this list because like Oklahoma's Blake Griffin last year he's clearly the premier player in college basketball. It goes without saying that he's a must-watch player as the top prospect the 2010 draft has to offer.
Evan Turner (Ohio State)
There are a lot of players who hurt their draft stock by opting to pass on the 2009 draft, but Evan Turne ... read more

Bob Wingerter Rating System
Bob doesn't believe in rating the selections. They are all of merit. Doubling up or chasing can be counterproductive in the long run. Okay, some plays handicap out stronger than others, but without records over thousands of plays, it's hard to have relative values of the plays....unless you are psychic. This is not saying that it cannot be helpful to increase your plays when going good (not one winning week) and decrease them when going bad. That is part of good money management. (SEE MONEY MANAGEMENT BELOW)
Bob Wingerter Money Management
Poor money management is the reason 90-95% of all sport bettors lose.
A good rule of thumb is to bet 2% of your bankroll on each play until it goes up 50%. Then increase your plays 50%. Do the reverse if your bankroll goes down.
Try not to risk more than 20% of your bankroll at any one time and over this amount only if you are making 10 or more plays simultaneously.
We wouldn't risk more than 18% while making 5-6 plays at a time.
If you make 1-3 plays a day, risking 10% of your gross bankroll at any one time might be safe.
If you go broke it won't be because you didn't pick winners, it will most likely be due to poor money management.
