Two hot teams in the American League West will collide in another three-game series. The Los Angeles Angels (71-63) which won nine of its last 12 games will visit the Oakland Athletics (76-57) which is gunning to notch its 10th consecutive victory. The Athletics are leading its head-to-head match-up against the Angels this season. The Athletics won seven and dropped just four and will attempt to widen the gap further as it pounces on its pitching as well as on its feisty and reliable hitters. The Athletics are leading the Angels by 5 ½ games over the Angels and just three games behind the pacesetting Texas Rangers in the division. The Athletics posted a sweep over hapless Boston on its last series as Seth Smith and Stephen Drew scored crisp homeruns en route to 6-2 win. The A’s took game one with an amazing 20-2 rout and a shellacking 7-1 victory in game two. The sweep enabled the Athletics to tie the New York Yankees for a share of second place in the AL. The two homers also raised the Athletics total to 20 on its last 9 games. Josh Reddick is so far the team’s best performer on the A’s superb streak. Reddick is batting an impressive .429, and come up with 3 homeruns and 10 RBIs in the eight games he suited up for the A’s during the streak after just hitting a lackadaisical .149 over his last 23 games. The Angels had its 5-game winning streak broken after suffering a sorry 1-2 decision against the lowly Seattle Mariners side. Albert Pujols scored a double to continue his hitting streak to 11 games but its main gunner Mike Trout was hitless in four tries. The Athletics will pit Tommy Milone who is aching to extend his winning streak to three (11-9, 3.73 ERA), against the Angel’s C.J. Wilson (10-9, 3.86). Milone has a nice record against the Angels as he scored two victories this season and just gave up three runs in 12 innings. Trends at the glance: Current Streak: The A’s is riding on a crest of its nine-game winning streak. It scored three lopsided victories over Boston over the weekend. The A’s will try to hike its winning run further when it battles the Angels on its own turf. Though its own winning streak was snapped the Angels is also hot as it dropped only three of its last twelve games. While the Angels just totes an average 35-34 away record.
