This is my Top 10 List of CFB teams for the upcoming season ~ Higgs
1. USC TROJANS --- Like USC a lot. Off probation, they get their leader and Heisman hopeful back in QB Matt Barkley. They get 1000 yard rusher Silas Redd from Penn State, to go along with their own 1000 back in Curtis McNeal. Barkley has a stud WR in Robert Woods, plus a 2nd 1000 receiver in Marqise Lee. The offense should be top notch. The defense should be a solid unit, and with their toughest game vs Oregon at home, USC should run the table.
2. OKLAHOMA SOONERS --- Another team that gets a stud QB back who turned down the NFL. Landry Jones comes back looking for some respect and some revenge. The schedule is winnable, and this team should be undefeated heading into the Big 12 Championship game. The defense should improve with the HC bringing in his brother to tighten the reigns. Sooners need to get over the hump and get some hardware or I think Stoops will be sitting on one with his baggage.
3. LSU TIGERS --- This team has another tough schedule, but another solid defense. I am not sold on the offense, but I think it is solid none the less. They will pound the ball and wear you down on both sides of the ball.
4. FLORIDA STATE --- I will buy into the hype with this Seminoles defense. They also have a pretty good special teams unit. If they OL can take a step forward and their QB can stay healthy, this team will be a contender.
5. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE ---- Tough to overcome some of the losses on defense. They will just reload. That being said, they do have to play LSU on the road, plus a tough Arkansas team on the road. But you can never write off Saban and this team.
6. OREGON DUCKS --- I am never a big backer of the Ducks, especially when it comes to title time. I do like the explosiveness and their offense. And they always have some kind of cool new uniform. But, that won't win them games against teams like USC who have speed to match them. Obviously, it is them and USC for the PAC 12 title and a BCS shot.
7. WISCONSIN BADGERS --- Another team like the Ducks. But this one runs through you as well as past you. Tough putting them here with the loss of QB Russell Wilson, but this team just continues to win.
8. TEXAS LONGHORNS --- My 1st of 2 sleepers. I like the defense a lot. But we need something to happen with these QBs if the Longhorns are to jump into Title talk. They have upset the Sooners before in the Red River Rivalry, and if they pull it off here, then they in the Big 12 Title game.
9. VIRGINIA TECH -- My 2nd sleeper. Maybe it is a man crush on HC Frank Beamer. Maybe it is because I think QB Logan Thomas is going to improve from last year and be a Cam Newton type player this year. The defense will be as terrific as ever and should be able to cover most OL mistakes if need-be.
10. GEORGIA BULLDOGS --- When in doubt, head to the SEC. Richt has a very good team and a favorable schedule. No LSU, No Bama. Toughest game at South Carolina. This is a veteran team and could make some noise if the ball bounces the right way.
