Sean Higgs MLB Season Totals

By: Sean Higgs     Date: Mar 29, 2014
Print Article

I closed out MLB last year on a nice 55% run. Might not sound impressive, but the majority of my plays are on underdogs. Over my last 1400 MLB plays, I am at 49%, but showing a profit of +2330.

AL EAST

Boston Red Sox UNDER 87.5 - These guys caught every break last year from free agents, to their health, to young guys having solid seasons. Not likely to be duplicated.

New York Yankees UNDER 86.5 - Is this a joke? I don't care that this team spent half a billion dollars. Too many question marks for me. A guy who has never thrown a pitch in the USA. An ace who has lost 5mph off his fastball. A 39 year old 'finesse' pitcher to round out 3/5ths of your rotation. The infield is down right scary offensively. Beltran, Soriano and Ichiro are what, a combined 120 years old! And you have Ellsbury who gets injured through his hard play. They need health and near perfect seasons to get to around 90 wins. I can't see them making it to 87.

Tampa Bay Rays OVER 88.5 - These guys have won 90+ in 5 of the last 6 years. Best staff in the division. A couple teams who might take steps back. Count me in.

AL CENTRAL

Kansas City Royals OVER 82.5 - This is one of my sleeper teams, not only to bet on, but to actually make the playoffs. I like the bats and I think the pitching is solid. A very good under the radar team for us to make some very good coin on.

AL West

Oakland A's UNDER 88.5 - I would have been on this over, but the pitching injures have just mounted against them. Coupled with an offense that somehow has trouble scoring and I think winning the division is a bit far-fetched this year. How do these guys not score with 3 (Moss, Donaldson, Cepedes) cracking nearly 30 HRs, and another guy in Reddick, who when healthy went long for 30?

NL East

Washington Nationals OVER 88.5 - Nats are going to win, in my opinion 95-100 games. They will face the Phillies, Mets and Marlins nearly 60 times. I think this is the easy total on the board.

Philadelphia Phillies UNDER 76.5 - Not only are these guys a little long in the tooth, the break in a new manager to boot.

NL West

San Diego Padres UNDER 78.5 - 79 wins? They want these guys to win 79 games. I look at this division. LAD should win 90-95. The Giants always have solid pitching. The Rockies have a healthy CarGo and Tulo and some decent pitching. The Padres are the only team that didn't really improve themselves. 69 wins I get. 79. Can't see this one happening.
