There are only two big awards that need to be discussed: MVP and Rookie of the Year. MVP is between Adrian Peterson and Peyton Manning with the loser getting the consolation prize of comeback player of the year with each player coming off an injury. The differences from 2011 to 2012 were Minnesota went from 3-13 in 2011 to 10-6 in 2012 and scored 340 in 2011 and 379 in 2012. Denver increased a bunch went from 8-8 to 13-3 and went from scoring 309 to 481. Adrian Peterson was 9 yards shy of the single season record for rushing yards and had over 350 yards more than the second place player. Peyton Manning was 6th in passing yards, third in TD Passes and most importantly had just 11 interceptions. I think Peyton Manning was more valuable as it is a quarterback league, lead the team who started 2-3 to wins in their final 11 games, earned a first round bye and the number one seed. It’s a very close race and short of co-MVPs I would say it is Manning by a nose. Rookie of the Year is just as close with three big quarterbacks fighting for the award in RG3, Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson. In the five main categories to focus on are completion percentage, passing yards, passing TDs, interceptions and fumbles. In those categories RG3: 65%, 3,200 yards, 20 TDs, 5 interceptions, 12 fumbles; Russell Wilson: 64%, 3,118 yards, 26 TDs, 10 interceptions, and 5 fumbles; Andrew Luck: 54%, 4,374 yards, 23 TDs, 18 interceptions, and 10 fumbles. With each have their highs and lows making those stats fairly even the most important number to look at is wins in 2011 vs. 2012 as Washington went from 5-11 to 10-6 (+5), Seattle went from 7-9 to 11-5 (+4), and Indianapolis went from 2-14 to 11-5 (+9). Andrew Luck is the winner with most yards and only a few less TD passes along with being +9 in wins with no thought of them getting into the playoffs in the beginning of the season and he led them nearly to the division win and the top wildcard spot.
