Where to start this week? It is probably best to start in Sochi for the Olympics, but there is a ton of hoops action in North America, along with the UFC, golf and NASCAR.
Olympics
The Olympics rolls on in Sochi, and the schedule is loaded this week, but hockey will dominate as the Games wrap up on the weekend. The women’s gold medal game is on Thursday, while the men’s championship will be decided on Sunday. Again, check the schedules so you don’t miss a thing.
NBA
The NBA returns after the All-Star break, and Thursday’s TNT doubleheader has the potential to be incredible. Miami and Oklahoma City kick things off, while Houston and Golden State are the nightcap. If you are a basketball fan, you have to watch these games.
College Basketball
Thursday night is also a big night in college hoops as Duke and North Carolina play a game that was rescheduled from last week due to a snowstorm. However, the Blue Devils have to switch their attention quickly as they host undefeated Syracuse in the marquee matchup on a loaded Saturday schedule.
Golf
The WGC Match Play event will be held on Wednesday at Dove Mountain in Arizona, with Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose and Zach Johnson taking the top seeds. Matt Kuchar is the defending champion in this event, which will be missing Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
UFC
The UFC continues a busy start to 2014 with UFC 170 in Las Vegas on Saturday, and it will be headlined by Ronda Rousey, who will defend her bantamweight belt against Sara McCann, who won her UFC debut last April. Rousey last fought at UFC 168, where she likely ended her rivalry with Miesha Tate with another victory by armbar.
NASCAR
The Daytona 500 kicks off the NASCAR season for 2014 on Sunday, with Austin Dillon on the pole in the #3 Chevy. However, the usual suspects will challenge the rookie, led by six-time champ Jimmie Johnson, who won his second 500 last year.
