Will LeBron James Miss Time With Aggravated Groin Injury?
LeBron James aggravated a recent groin injury after a collision with Patrick Beverley in the first quarter of his team's 111-106 loss to the Clippers on Christmas Day. ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported that James could miss time moving forward after aggravating a previous nagging groin injury. "I felt healthy going into the game," James told reporters after the game. "I got kneed in the groin taking a charge from Pat Bev, and it kind of set me right back to where I was five days ago." James missed Sunday's 128-104 loss against the Nuggets because of a groin injury. It was the first game he had to sit out this season. That groin has apparently flared up after he tried to take a charge against Beverley. LeBron James suffered a torn left groin during a 127-101 win against the Warriors on Christmas Day last year (the first major injury of his career), which caused him to miss 17 games and cost the Lakers a chance to make the playoffs. The four-time NBA MVP said that the injury he suffered against the Clippers is on the right side of his groin. James also said that it is not as severe as the one he had last year. "Why wouldn't I play if I'm healthy? It doesn't make any sense to me, personally. I mean, I don't know how many games I've left in my career. I don't know how many kids that may show up to a game that are there to see me play," James recently said when reporters asked him about taking days off. "If I'm hurt, I don't play. If not, I'm playing. That's what has always been my motto." He concluded saying: "That's my obligation. My obligation is to play, play for my teammates and if I'm healthy, then I'm going to play." If pushed to its limit, James' injury could worsen though, which is why many members of the Lakers organization have approached him, asking him to consider sitting out for the next few games to fully recover. The Lakers have to visit the Trail Blazers on Saturday and then host the Mavericks on Sunday. James is currently listed as day-to-day. "To be honest, I haven't even thought about Portland just yet," James said when asked about his playing status. "I'm always around the clock with my body, getting my treatment. If I'm feeling great, I'll be in the lineup. If I'm feeling well, I'll be in the lineup. We'll see what happens."
