Stryker's Game 7 College Turning Point

By: Tom Stryker     Date: Oct 22, 2010
Print Article

There are a number of important games throughout the course of a season. One of them occurs when a team sports a 3-3 SU record and heads into their seventh battle. In order to get to bowl eligibility, a sixth victory is essential. With a majority of schedules sporting 12 games, these .500 clubs need to crank things up a notch. If they fall here and pick up their fourth loss, that means they’ll need to win at least three of their remaining five games or they’ll be home for the holidays.

Since 1980, game seven teams that carry a 3-3 SU mark hold a 144-123-8 ATS record for 53.9 percent. That’s the base I started with when I broke this situation down. One thing I like to do when analyzing a potential college system is see if momentum makes a difference. I’ll bring a team in off a big win or a big loss and analyze what it does to the set.

With regards to this college system, wins didn’t make a difference. However, losses were another story. With our 144-123-8 ATS record in hand, home teams with a 3-3 SU record that were matched up against an opponent that arrived off a straight up loss improved the overall record of the system to 74-54-6 ATS for 57.8 percent. If our host was off a straight up loss as well, this technical situation absolutely exploded to a jaw-dropping 48-23-1 ATS mark for 67.6 percent. There are two schools that are locked into this “play on” situation on Saturday: Louisville and Colorado.

There is one additional parameter that can be added to this system that creates a little more profit. If our host enters off a loss of four points or more (no really close losses), this Game 7 Turning Point situation improves to a reliable 43-17 ATS for 71.6 percent. Both the Cardinals and Buffaloes apply.

While researching this angle, I did discover one other area where 3-3 SU hosts did well. If our game seven homer sports a .500 mark and is laying double digits, this situation carries an eye-popping 49-29-4 ATS mark for 62.8 percent. Three schools are locked into this quick system on Saturday: Pittsburgh, Illinois and Idaho.

Good luck with this Game 7 Turning Point system. Be sure to hang on to it for more potential plays next week.
