He very seldom uses a curve ball that he usually throws under 80 mph as an off-speed pitch because its easier to adjust to. His 6-pitch repertoire has paid BIG dividends as he's tabulated an off-the-charts 0.64 ERA & an even better 0.56 ERA over his last 3 starts. Over the longer haul of his last 7 starts, the lost ER's he's given up in an of those outings is 1. The Athletics come into town ranking 24th in offense (of 30) & have 11 players injured and/or out since opening day. They've struggled versus RHP over the first month of action hitting RHP @ an under-the-Mendoza .211. Ohtani is super-tough @ the Sombrero where his ERA is 0.00.
