Mike Handzelek's CFB Week 9 Analysis/Review/Quick Notes

Saturday, October 28, 2023 Air Force vs. Colorado State (NCAAF) - 7:00 PM EDT Premium Pick Pick: Point Spread: +14/-110 Colorado State Rating: 6* Mike's Mountain West Game of the Week (WIN) Hey, this game is super-rich in tradition! They've been playing it since 1957 (Air Force holds a 38-21-1 edge in the series) & Air Force has taken home the Ram-Falcon Trophy (been around since 1980) the past 6 seasons. I love the fact that Colorado State HC Jay Norvell (came over from a 5-year stint @ Nevada) is an excellent schemer. He proved this earlier when his team travelled to take on a red-hot Colorado Buffaloes squad in a hostile Boulder atmosphere & being a 23-point underdog. The result a double OT thrilling loss by a slim 43-35 count. I believe RIVALRY #2 should be hard-fought as well. While the talent-rich Falcons (7-0 ITS-In The Stats) have the numbers, this line is a little over-inflated. In fact, if we go back the LAST 10 YEARS, you'll find Air Force has NOT beaten these Rams by MORE than 17. While Colorado State still has 3 winnable games to close out the regular season (San Diego State, Nevada & Hawaii), this game represents a must-win situation since they currently sit @ 3-4 SU. On the flip side, we have the Falcons of HC Troy Calhoun (17th season) in a proverbial Commander-In-Chief SANDWICH after beating an out-manned Navy squad 17-6 on the road last week PLUS having to play for that CIC Trophy next week when they face Army in Denver. This is set up perfectly for Air Force to get the "W" & regroup for next week. CSU is capable as they just upset Boise State @ this venue 31-30 as 7 1.2-point dogs just 2 weeks ago. Let's fly to Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins to play the COLORADO STATE RAMS (buying to + 17 1/2 @ -180) as my 6 Star Mountain West Game of the Week! Colorado vs. UCLA (NCAAF) - 7:30 PM EDT Premium Pick Pick: Point Spread: +15/-110 Colorado Rating: 7* Mike's CFB Saturday Night Strongest Play On The Board (WIN) It seems HC Deion Sanders is getting slighted once again. In 3 instances where his team was getting double-digits, he's covered 2 of them in beating TCU outright & narrowly losing by 7 to USC. The key intangible here HAS to be 2 full weeks of preparation by the Buffs versus 1 by UCLA. You can't compare scores either. Yes, UCLA beat Stanford 42-7 & Colorado lost in 2 OT's 46-43 to the Cardinal. The EDGE I was looking for is @ QB. The Bruins have has injuries to both Freshman starter Dante Moore & backup Collin Schlee. I feel un-proven 2nd week/ 3rd-string QB Ethan Garbers hasn't earned the respect of the numbers yet. This line is way out of whack! Remember, UCLA is just 1-2 SU versus ranked teams. I expect a much closer game than oddsmakers predict since Colorado has a TOP 5 QB in the country in Shedeur Sanders. The Bruins also sit a ticket-ripping 3-3 on the ML their last 6 @ home. Let's go to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena to play the COLORADO BUFFALOES (buying to + 17 1/2 @ -170) as my 7 Star CFB Saturday Night Strongest Play on the Board! QUICK NOTES: Thanks to all of my loyal subscribers, followers, friends & co-workers who believe in the system. There's been heavy heat (AKA watch dogs) from your Vegas know-it-alls who were brain-washed into thinking there's only ONE way to prognosticate football & that's by pure spreads. They've continued to bash throughout the season which puts more fuel on my fire. Those who've been aboard the past years know this is far from true IF you can play SHARP lines/games AT the right number. That's what I've proven more often than not in CFB & this is especially true in the NFL. Mike Handzelek's 2023-24 CFB Overall Seasonal Record: 10-3 for 77% for an excellent +2,430 units of profit
