Mike Handzelek's CFB Week 2 Analysis & Review

Saturday, September 9, 2023 Nebraska vs. Colorado (NCAAF) - 12:00 PM EDT Premium Pick Pick: Point Spread: +2.5/100 Nebraska Rating: 9* Mike's CFB Public Missed Perception Play (LOSS) You can argue the favorite side til' the cows come home & it won't do you any good. The fact remains that Deion Sanders & his Colorado Buffaloes are coming in FAT & HAPPY despite what he says in the locker room. His charges won't be going up against a matador defense like T.C.U. this week. Yes, they have the home field advantage. But this Nebraska team is coming in ANGRY for losing a late lead last week in Minnesota in a game where they pretty much dominated defensively throughout. I expect new HC Matt Rhule to once again get his team to respond when in the underdog role. Rhule has been lights out as a dog no matter where he's coached. He's 9-3 ATS as a single-digit road dog & is 29-12 on the road in his career. The dagger for us looks @ opening week underdogs of 20 or more who pull a upset revenge win. These teams have come back to go a perfect 0-6 SU. Let's roll out to Folsom Field in Boulder to strategically play the NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS (buying to + 7 1/2) with a little pasta sprinkled on the ML as my 9 Star CFB Public Missed Perception Play! Texas vs. Alabama (NCAAF) - 7:00 PM EDT Premium Pick Pick: Point Spread: -7/-115 Alabama Rating: 8* Mike's 2nd Selection of His CFB Combo (LOSS) If those of you remember, last season's game saw Texas QB Quinn Ewers fall to injury as 21-point dog Texas couldn't hold 2 4th-quarter leads in a 20-19 defeat. Alabama held the Longhorns to just 2.4 yards per rush & that's WITH the talented RB Bijan Robinson whose now the #1 RB on the NFL's Atlanta Falcons' depth chart. On the flip side, new Crimson Tide QB Jalen Milroe isn't a Bryce Young (now set to start with NFL's Carolina Panthers) but threw 3 TD's & ran for 2 in their 56-7 opening win versus Middle Tennessee State. In the numbers tell us the Hookem' Horns' (making their 1st trip to Tuscaloosa since 1902) are 0-3 ATS aa an away dog under HC Steve Sarkisian (14-12 SU in his 3rd season). Bama' will be coming into this one with a 56-game SU non-conference regular season winning streak. The past 16 non-conference Power 5 games have seen the Roll Tides' post a stellar 13-2-1 spread mark. Everyone knows HC Nick Saban's 28-2 SU mark versus his former assistants (applies here). If favored by 18 or less in that same situation, Saban is a perfect 14-0 SU/10-4 ATS & a flawless 4-0 SU & ATS if also @ home. With Ewers not looking like he's was protected well in their home game versus Rice last week (a 37-10 win), it's not going to get much better in a hostile environment here. With Ole Miss a clear 2 weeks down the road for Bama' @ home, let's expect laser focus as we jet down to Bryant-Denny Stadium to play the ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE (buying to - 2 1/2) as my Inside Information 2nd Selection of His CFB Combo Play! Texas State vs. Texas San Antonio (NCAAF) - 3:30 PM EDT Premium Pick Pick: Point Spread: -14/-110 Texas San Antonio Rating: 8* Mike's CFB Combo Selection 1 (WIN) The 1st part of the combo looks @ the Sun Belt Conference entry Texas State Bobcats' squad ALSO coming in FAT & HAPPY after their gigantic upset over Baylor. They may just be 1-0 SU but have 11 starters back & are on a 8 straight season losing streak compiling a record of 23-73 SU. Sure things are looking up with new HC G.J. Kinne & his 6'7" sophomore & former L.S.U./Auburn transfer QB T.J. Finley. However, UTSA is coming in poised for another run as they were upset last week by Houston despite holding a decisive 417-334 yardage edge. My bottom line points @ experience with the Roadrunners chiming in @ #13 while Texas State falls way back to 125th in that same category. In addition, HC Kinne was actually coached by UTSA HC Jeff Traylor (4th season, 30-11 SU overall) @ Gilmer HS in Texas where Traylor won 3 Class 4A state titles. I'm giving UTSA QB Frank Harris a pass last week (back for his 7th season) after throwing 3 INT's as THIS WEEK he goes up against a much weaker "D" of the Bobcats with just 4 starters back. The 1st part of the combo we're going to the Alamodome to play the UTSA ROADRUNNERS (buying to - 6 1/2) as my 8 Star CFB Combo Selection 1! Mike Handzelek's 2023-24 CFB Overall Record: dropped to a shabby 2-2 for 50%
