Mike Handzelek's CFB Week 10 Analysis & Review

Saturday, November 04, 2023 Nebraska vs. Michigan State (NCAAF) - 12:00 PM EST Premium Pick Pick: Point Spread: -3/-115 Nebraska Rating: 6* Mike's CFB Under The Radar Earlybird (WIN) +600 This 2-6 SU Michigan State program (now under the direction of interim HC Harlon Bennett who took over for Mel Tucker) has but 1 cover since Week 2 & have been decimated by injuries. There are 19 players lost for the season & 5 questionable for this game. They've also been outscored 198-68 over their past 6 contests PLUS 0-5 SU in the Big Ten where they've been outscored 160-61. Enter into the picture HC Matt Rhule's (ex-Penn State linebacker from 94'-97') 5-3 SU Nebraska Cornhuskers AND is a lights-out 30-13 ATS on the road in his career. Minus facing potent offenses like Michigan & Colorado, DC Tony White's (came over from Syracuse) stellar schemes has NOT given up OVER 18 PPG to anyone else & rank 13th in the nation in total defense & 5th versus the run. This defense is holding their opponents to 77 YPG BELOW their season average (MSU averages 311) & have given up a stingy 10 PPG over their last 3. Big Red have moved the football better winning the ITS-In The Stats with a 6-2 record (MSU 3-5). The Huskers' ALSO come in with a score to settle having lost a thriller in OT the last time out versus the Spartans 23-20 on the grass @ Spartan Stadium. This is a VERY pertinent game for Nebraska since they find themselves in a 4-way tie (3-2) atop the Big Ten West with Minnesota, Iowa & Wisconsin. They'll face Wisconsin & Iowa to close out the regular season so this is a MUST win to keep their hopes of bagging their division in Rhule's 1st year in Lincoln. A win here ALSO makes them bowl-eligible which is a BIG deal for the school who haven't reached that goal since 2016 (a Music City Bowl 38-24 loss to Tennessee when Mike Riley coached there)! My bottom line says Nebraska is a squad who LOVES to control tempo. They'll play a deliberate style, ball-control offense that ranks 122nd in the nation in offensive plays per game @ 60.9 (19 below South Florida's best 79.9). I'm looking for the Children (Players From) of the Corn to be EAGER to shake off the negative vibes of the previous regime under Scott Frost. There's TWO things that stick out for me. ONE, Big Red have had BIG success covering 9 out of their last 10 of this series. TWO, this team beats the teams they're supposed to beat. The 3 teams they DID lose to have a combined record of 23-6 SU. Sparty doesn't fit the mold. Let's go to Spartan Stadium in East Lansing to play the NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS -300 for 6 Stars buying to + 4 1/2 as my CFB Under The Radar Earlybird! Mike Handzelek's 2023-24 CFB Overall Seasonal Record: 11-3 79% for a NET PROFIT of + 3,030 units
