It's time to project who makes the CFB Playoff which will begin with the CFB Playoff Semi-Finals played @ the Cotton Bowl & Orange Bowl on New Year's Eve. The winners will then meet on January 10, 2021 @ Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Here are my Top 7 Playoff Power Rankings with my projected scenarios.
#1 GEORGIA BULLDOGS -- They're 11-0 with a roadie @ Georgia Tech (the Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate Rivalry) & then a probable SEC Championship game with Alabama. If they lose to the Crimson Tide, I feel they're still in. Projection: 13-0 & into the CFB Semi-Finals
#2 OHIO STATE BUCKEYES -- They're 10-1 & rolling with a 117th-meeting with Michigan coming Saturday @ Ann Arbor (The Game Rivalry). With a "W", they'll be in the Big 10 Championship game with Wisconsin. Projection: 12-1 & into the CFB Semi-Finals
#3 ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE -- They pop in @ 10-1 & have their (Iron Bowl Rivalry) due up @ Auburn. They should be in the SEC Championship against Georgia on December 4th @ the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Projection: 11-2 & OUT with a Sugar Bowl meeting with Big 12 Baylor on New Year's Day
#4 CINCINNATI BEARCATS -- This team could make history as they take an 11-0 record into Greenville to take on East Carolina. They should play 10-1 Houston (plays @ lowly Connecticut Saturday) on December 4th in the Group of 5 American Athletic Conference Championship @ Nippert Stadium. Projection: 13-0 & into the CFB Semi-Finals
#5 MICHIGAN WOLVERINES -- They control their own destiny @ 10-1 with (The Game Rivalry) @ home with the Buckeyes this Saturday. They need to win AND beat Wisconsin in the Big 10 Championship (scheduled for December 4th @ Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis) to make the CFB Semi-Finals. Projection: 10-2 & OUT with a Rose Bowl meeting with PAC-12 Utah on New Year's Day
#6 NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH -- They're 10-1 & coming on with a head of steam going into their final regular season game @ Stanford Saturday. Without playing an extra conference championship game, it could be costly. They need a Michigan loss, an Alabama double-digit loss to Georgia along with either a Cincinnati loss or Oklahoma State loss to get in. Projection: 11-1 & OUT with a Peach Bowl meeting with ACC Wake Forest on New Year's Day
#7 OKLAHOMA STATE COWBOYS -- They're rolling in @ 10-1 with their 116th meeting with Oklahoma (Bedlam Series Rivalry) slated for Saturday @ Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater. They win & they'll be playing Baylor (who plays Texas Tech in Waco Saturday) for the Big 12 Championship on December 4th @ AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Projection: They go 12-1 & arguably slip into the #4 spot for the CFB Semi-Finals. That extra win @ the end will have the CFB Playoff Committee select them over Notre Dame.
The head-to-head bowl season (not counting All-Star games) will commence on December 17th @ noon with the Bahamas Bowl (40 in all) & end with the Texas Bowl on January 4th, TBD that doesn't include the 3 CFB Playoffs. Be back on Thursday for a probable CFB selection & have a Happy Thanksgiving!
