Sunday, February 19, 2017 Georgetown vs. Creighton (NCAAB) - 3:30 PM EST Premium Pick Pick: Point Spread: -7.0/-110 Creighton Pick Title: 9 Star Big East Sunday Avenger (Win) If anyone saw battle # 1 on January 25th @ the Verizon Center, then you know how poorly HC Greg McDermott's team shot from the field. The 34% from the field wasn't as alarming as the (1-for-18) they turned in from 3-pt. range. The 71-51 lopsided Hoyas' win caught the Blue Jays in transition in only their 2nd game after losing their top scorer & assist man (nation's best 8.5 assists per game) Maurice Watson, Jr.. In this matchup, I feel McDermott knows the key to stopping Georgetown on the road will be how well they neutralize both L.J. Peak & (Robert Morris transfer) Rodney Pryor, who combined for 38 in the first meeting. But the Hoyas take on a different complexion on the road where they gave up 41 to Seton Hall junior guard Khadeen Carrington in a 87-81 Pirates' win Wednesday night. For this matchup, I expect McDermott to get his Freshman Center Justin Patton heavily involved (13.7 PPG, 6.3 RPG & is 3rd nationally with a 70% FG percentage- 3 1/2 points higher than the all-time freshman record set by Arkansas's Sidney Moncrief in 1975-76). Even though G'Town's Junior Forward Akoy Agau will be having a little homecoming (played his high school ball @ Omaha Central), Creighton is a high-scoring machine @ home that creates problems for John Thompson III's bunch from the perimeter. The home faithful as well as the Jays' are not only super eager to erase that embarrassing 20-pt loss last month, but also a nail-biter home loss last week to Xavier. Sundays have not been kind to Hoyas' Nation as they've lost 7 of their last 10 SU while Creighton has been a solid 36-15 on Sunday. Look for local product & Blue Jays Sophomore Guard Khyri Thomas & teammate Marcus Foster to have a day!
