Jeff's 2025 AFC North Spotlight Team

By: Jeff Hochman     Date: Aug 7, 2025
Print Article

We know the NFL is a Quarterback league. At 41 years old, Aaron Rodgers enters 2025 showing signs of physical decline after a disappointing 2024 season with the Jets. His completion percentage of 63% ranked 31st out of 39 qualifying quarterbacks. His EPA (Expected Points Added) per play ranked 32nd, and his average target depth (7.4 yards) was 26th in the league. Aaron Rodgers' ability to rush has decreased over time. In 2016, he averaged 23.1 rushing yards per game, but that number dropped to only 4.3 in 2024. His pressure-to-sack rate is 27.3%, which shows he faces challenges behind a shaky offensive line. In his last 17 starts, Rodgers has secured only five wins. He stated that 2025 will likely be his final season, and he may be mentally checked out.

Pittsburgh's offensive line is a significant concern. It is ranked 21st by Pro Football Focus and struggles with injuries and inconsistency despite recent upgrades. Left tackle Broderick Jones has faced difficulties during training camp, with reports indicating that the entire defensive line has exploited him and the rest of the offensive line. The defensive line, however, is ranked No. 1 at PFF and will need to stay healthy all season to win more than eight games. That's tough to predict, though. The Steelers added veteran corners Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay, both over 34, raising concerns about their performance. Pittsburgh lost three-time All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to the Dolphins, considered a top-three safety in the league. The Steelers face the seventh-toughest schedule based on their opponents' season win totals. I am not feeling the Steelers this season after picking them over 8.5 wins last year.

Jeff’s Best Bet: Pittsburgh Steelers UNDER 8.5 (+120)

Jeff’s Best Bet: Pittsburgh Steelers Miss Playoffs (-145)

Jeff’s Best Bet: Aaron Rogers UNDER 3,250 Passing Yards
