Villanova is the defending champs and come into this match up with Xavier as the number 2 team in the land with a 23-2 record. Villanova is 10-2 in Big East play and and coming in on a four game winning streak. Xavier is also coming in on a four game winning streak which has put them at 18-6 over all, 8-3 in Big East play and 24th in the country. These are the top two team in the Big East and score around the same number of points, but against top 25 teams they couldn't be more different as Villanova is 5-1 and Xavier is 1-5. In their earlier match up on January 10th Villanova won with a big second half 45-26 to salt the game away and win 79-54 as Xavier didn't have a single scorer with 12 or more points and Villanova had five players in double digits including Hart and Jenkins putting up 20 points each. Villanova has been solid on the road with a 5-2 record, but Xavier has been tough at home this season with a 12-1 record. that lone home loss was to a ranked Big East team in Creighton who was #7 at the time and it was a close game as Creighton took it by five as the difference was the foul shooting with Creighton making 11 of 12 and Xavier making only 16 of 29. Look for shooting to be the differing in this game as Villanova shoots the ball well as Hart and Jenkins do it again putting up points in the 20 and limiting Xavier scoring as they win 78-68.
