Two AL East teams match-up on Thursday as the Tampa Bay Rays face the Boston Red Sox in a great series. The Tampa Bay Rays are coming off of a 3-0 win against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday. The Boston Red Sox have gone 7-3 in their last 10 games overall. Tampa Bay is one of the hottest teams in baseball, winning 9 out of their last 10. The Boston Red Sox will turn to left hander Jake Bennett for this match-up. He is 1-0 with a 1.8 ERA. Bennett has elite stuff with a great changeup that does work on right handers. Definitely a pitcher to keep an eye on this season. Jesse Scholtens will lead the way on the bump for the Tampa Bay Rays. He is 3-1 on the year with a sparkling 3.18 ERA. We've got Scholtens pegged for regression. The Rays claimed Jesse Scholtens in August 2025 after he was designated for assignment by the White Sox. Scholtens doesn’t overwhelm hitters with raw stuff. He throws strikes with a wide arsenal and relies on his command and pitch sequencing. It has worked for now but Fenway will be a big test for him. Griffin Jax will open this game before the Rays turn to Scholtens as the primary pitcher. Boston have gone 9-7 when taking on winning teams in their last 16. They are 8-2 in their last 10 when taking on the Rays.
