Free Sports Game Preview and Prediction: TCU vs. Georgia

Play: Point Spread: 12.5/-110 TCU
Well, this is the highest spread in CFP Championship history. What stands out for me is a Georgia squad that's 11 out of their 14 games by 14 or more, come off averaging 8.9 Yards Per Play & out-scored Ohio State 18-3 in the 4th in the semi-final. The Junkyard Dawgs & Heisman Finalist QB Stetson Bennett have experience & enough playmakers (WR-Ladd McConkey, WR- Adonai Mitchell, TE-Brock Bowers, T-Darnel Washington & dual-threat RB Kenny McIntosh). The Georgia O-Line does an excellent job @ protecting Bennett allowing 9 total sacks & just 2 their past 7 games. The side of the ball where this game should be won is with the Georgia defense. They've played dual-threat QB's like Max Duggan before with some excellent success. They held the talented Hendon Hooker of Tennessee to 18 rushes for 17 yards with less than 50% completions. They limited Florida's Anthony Richardson to 11 carries for 19 yards with under 50% completions. They also dominated Bo Nix of Oregon to 8 rushes for 37 yards with a 0-2 TD/INT ratio. This defense yields just 14.8 PPG (ranks 5th). On the flip side of the ball, Bennett & Co. rank 7th in total yards with 492 YPG (a big 200 yards more than their 2nd-ranked defense allows) & have the BEST Red Zone offense in the country. Yes, Heis man Finalist Max Duggan is a dangerous QB. However, not having RB Kendre Miller (1,399 yards & 17 TD's) is a big deal here. That means Emari Demercado should get a share of the carries but is not the big threat Miller is. Georgia leads the nation in rushing defense yielding a stingy 77 YPG. In the number show a Horned Frogs squad ranking 70th versus the run, punching in a 5-11 spread record @ neutral sites & have come back to go 1-4 ATS after allowing 40 or more points in their previous game. On the other sideline, the Bulldogs have come back strong going 24-8 spreadwise after an ATS loss as well as a nifty 15-7 @ neutral sites. My bottom line says OC Todd Monken should be ready for TCU's 3-3-5 defensive alignment with a week & a half of prep time. Monken's run game will be hard to stop using 2 TE sites about 60% of their plays. Underdogs have lost 3 straight championship games SU & ATS. In addition, teams that score 31 points or more in the championship have carried a nifty 18-3 SU & 17-4 spread mark. I just don't see the Horned Frogs' defense cashing in 2 more Pick-6's that they enjoyed versus Michigan freshman QB JJ McCarthy. I feel senior G Cameron Christon can take over a game & is well complimented by senior G Shawndarius Cowart making a dominant backcourt.
