Throughout the long MLB regular season, every team goes through some struggles. And right now, the Cleveland Guardians are struggling a bit. They've lost three in a row and six of their last 10 games. Don't get me wrong, this is a solid baseball team, and they still own a 4.5-game lead in the American League Central. But they're starting to crack a little bit. Meanwhile, the Seattle Mariners have taken over the top spot in American League West with a 10.0-game cushion. They are red hot, riding a four-game win streak, and overall, taking eight of their last 10 outings. On paper, the Guardians offense is certainly more explosive. They average nearly a run more per game than does the Mariners. But I think we can all agree, baseball isn’t played on paper. I know I repeat this statement often, “Baseball is the streakiest of all the major sports. You stay with a hot team and fade a cold one. Brian Woo and Tanner Bibbee are scheduled here in this matchup. The Mariners right-hander is 3-0 overall, with a 1.07 ERA. As a matter of fact, the team has won all six of his starts this season. The Guardians right-hander owns some very respectable numbers, going 4-2 with a 3.94 ERA in 2024. Following a streak of solid outings, the team has lost his last two, as he has allowed 6.0 earned runs in 10.1 innings pitched in those games. If he has some issues, it is at home this season. Despite being 2-1, his ERA soars to a whopping 5.06 at Progressive Field. I just feel Seattle is playing a little hotter, and has a stronger starter on the mound. Take the Mariners. Thank you.
