The San Jose State Spartans have been the laughing stock of the Mountain West over the last decade, but they are a lot more competitive this year than they were last season. They finished with a 1-17 record in the Mountain West last year, so it's no surprise that they aren't getting a lot of respect from bookmakers. They are a double digit dog at New Mexico, despite both teams coming in with 3-2 conference records. Interesting to note that the two teams that New Mexico lost to, are two of the three teams that the Spartans have defeated. The Spartans last road game was a three point loss at Boise State.
