My friends, I have been in this business one way or another since I was in sixth grade with football sheets in the schoolyard. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why San Diego is favored on the road over Kansas City. Granted, they own one of the better away records in the National League at 17-10 on the road this season. And today's starter, Dylan Cease has been good over his career against the Royals, going, 5-4 with a 3.40 ERA against them. The right-hander is a mediocre, 5-4 with a 3.29 ERA in 2024. Just over his last three starts, he has allowed a whopping, 12 earned runs in 15.4 innings pitched. Just for the record, he is also 0-2 with an ERA of 6.61 during those three outings. I understand he is perfect on the road at 4-0 this season. But looking at those four wins as a visitor, they were against San Francisco, Milwaukee, Colorado, and Chicago… not the most explosive offenses in baseball, for sure. Kansas City possesses the best home record in the American League at 18-6 at Kauffman Stadium this season. I am aware the Royals have dropped four of their last five games coming into this series. But prior to that, they won seven straight. This is a team that ranks sixth in both scoring, as well as sixth in Team ERA. Speaking of which, today they send Michael Wacha to the hill. The right-hander has mediocre overall numbers on the campaign. His last four consecutive performance shave been stellar, not allowing more than two earned runs in any. He also owns a career mark of 3-1 with a 2.27 EA in seven starts against San Diego. It’s true, he hasn’t gone up against them since 2019. But he has confidence here knowing he has dominated them. we talk a lot about value in the line in baseball. Yes, this line offers us tremendous value. But, moreover, KC is the better team. Take the Royals. Thank you.
