Play: Money Line: -125 San Diego Padres
The Padres and Diamondbacks wrap up their Mexico City series this afternoon, and San Diego offers excellent moneyline value in a game where they hold a massive starting pitching advantage. The Padres came from behind late last night to win 6-4. San Diego is now an impressive 18-8 on the season.
Michael King gets the start for the Padres and he has been sensational for them, pitching to a 2.28 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP over his first five starts, continuing where he left off last year as a top-tier arm in the National League.
On the other side, Ryne Nelson has been disastrous for Arizona. We have been as high as anyone on Nelson's stuff but it's just not working out for him so far this season. Nelson sports a 6.97 ERA. His last start was as rough as they come, surrendering eight runs on eight hits in a catastrophic first inning against the Blue Jays. Nelson's stuff has been far too hittable in the early goings so far this year.
The extreme altitude in Mexico City (7,350 feet) creates a highly volatile offensive environment and that doesn't bode well for Nelson who is being hit hard right now.
The Padres potent offense has scored 16 runs in their last two games.
Take the Padres to get the win in this game.
