Free Winner For the first time in a while guys, the New York Mets are feeling pressure. They have lost six of the last 10, including three straight. And have the Atlanta Braves just a half-game behind them in the NL East. There is some real urgency for them to start winning. As a matter of fact, New York hasn’t lost four in a row all season long. And they’re not gonna’ start now. They face a Pittsburgh Pirates team that just swept the Cincinnati Reds. But come on…it’s the Reds. Believe it or not, these two teams have only met three times this season and that was earlier this month when the Mets took two of the three meetings. The only thing the Pirates are playing for right now is perhaps to be a bit of a spoiler. Other than that, the NL Central’s worst team hasn’t showed too much heart all season. Coming down the homestretch, New York must turn it around and they must start here. Brubaker and Carrasco are scheduled starters today. The Pirates right hander is 3-11 with a 4.36 ERA this season. This includes a 0-7 mark away from home. Just over his last three, he’s gotten lit up for 11 earned runs in just 18 innings pitched. On the other hand, the Mets righty is a very respectable 14-6 with a 3.80 ERA in 2022. At home this season, he has been stellar, going 8-2 with a 3.35 ERA. What really does impress me most, is that he hasn’t allowed more than three runs in 10 consecutive turns. And the team has won eight of his last 10 outings. Pittsburgh is just 2-5 the last seven in New York, while New York is 14-6 the last 20 versus the NL Central. I feel the Mets are going turn it around today and get us all paid.
