Game 906. 5:05 PM PST/8:05 PM EST. My friends, there wasn’t too much that caught my eye on today’s baseball card. But this is a game that definitely did catch my eye. And if the line would’ve been a little bit lower, I would’ve most-likely put it out as a premium release. There is no question that the NL Central is the weakest division in baseball. And to be quite honest with you, it’s really anybody’s division to take. The Pirates, which looked pretty strong for a while, are starting to crack a bit. They lead the Brewers by just one-game and the Reds by a game and a half. They’ve dropped five of their last seven coming into Game three of the series. Obviously, they dropped Games 1 and 2 with the Cubs, by combined 21-9. As far as Chicago is concerned, they sit in fourth place, 4.5-games back. One thing about the Cubbies, my friends, they are a streaky team. When they lose, they lose badly, and they lose a lot. But when they win, they win with authority, and they start streaking. Right now, they are streaking. They have won four of their last five to once again get over the hump at home at 17-16. They’ve had their way with Pittsburgh, taking eight of their last 10 meetings. And going back a bit, 44 of their last 62 matchups played at Wrigley. Oviedo and Stroman are scheduled here today. The Pirates right-hander: 3-5 with a 4.16 ERA, while the Cubs righty: 7-4 with a 2.42 ERA. While Oviedo has done OK against today’s opponent, Stroman has certainly struggled when facing the Pittsburgh bats. But this season these are two very different pitchers. And right now, two very different squads. It’s hard to ignore the fact that Marcus Stroman is 3-0 his last three turns with an anemic ERA of 0.83. And possesses just a 2.15 ERA at home this season. Stats heavily favor the Cubs here, as they have won four of their last five at home, four of their last five versus right-handed starters, and 16 of their last 21 at Wrigley Field versus teams with a winning record. Like I said, if this line would’ve been a little bit lower, I would’ve had it as a premium play. But I still put a strong lean on Chicago at home here. Thank you.
