Free Sports Game Preview and Prediction: Philadelphia Phillies vs. Houston Astros
Monday, October 03, 2022 8:10 PM
Play: Money Line: 105 Philadelphia Phillies
My free play takes place in Interleague action where the Houston Astros host the Philadelphia Phillies in the first game of a three-game series.
Philadelphia took three of four against Washington in their last series, while Houston took two of three against Tampa Bay. The Astros, they aren’t playing for anything. But the Phillies, their looking to clinch the final NL Wildcard spot. And the magic number for them is one. That’s right, they just need to win one of the final three games. Aaron Nola 10-13 with a 3.36 ERA and Lance McCullers 4-1 with a 2.28 ERA are scheduled to start. Nola, he won his lone start against the Astros back in 2017, where he threw six scoreless innings in the Phillies 9-0 win. McCullers, he’s only made eight starts this season, and has never faced the Phillies. I know Philadelphia is facing one of the best teams in baseball, but like I said earlier, Houston doesn’t need the win, they just want to leave this series healthy. And with the Phillies looking to take that final NL Wildcard spot, I see them fighting hard in this one. Play Philadelphia.
