Game 957. 2:10 PM PST/5:10 PM EST. Despite dropping Game 2 of this series yesterday, the Philadelphia Phillies have taken a commanding lead in the N.L. East. They currently sit 5.0-games ahead of the New York Mets in the division. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Reds sit in third place in the N.L. Central, 13.0-games back, and are sitting outside of the Wildcard bubble. Prior to yesterday's defeat, the Phillies were running hot, winning seven of their last eight with authority. Their lineup has been exploding, while they're pitching staff has been absolutely outstanding. On the other hand, the Reds have been hit or miss, no pun intended. They are either playing great baseball, or falling flat. It is today’s starters that are compelling me to side with Philadelphia to bounce back. Christopher Sanchez and Hunter Greene are scheduled. The Phillies left-hander has been outstanding this season, sporting an 11-3 record with a very respectable ERA of 2.36. As a matter of fact, the team is 17-6 in his turns in 2025. He has won four of his past five starts, and in three lifetime starts against the Reds, he is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA. The Cincinnati right-hander will be back on the mound for the first time since June 3. I feel he will be rusty for sure. Over his career in two starts against Philly, he is 0-1 with a 4.63 ERA. I expect the Phillies lineup to explode here. The last time they were held to just one run scored, they then followed it up with four consecutive victories outscoring opponents by a combined 20-6.
