Play: Point Spread: +2/-110 Philadelphia Eagles
***Joe D: All Over the Leaderboards*** As usual, I am one of the top preseason NFL handicappers on the planet. I have already posted winners for preseason football on Thursday evening, a big MLB winner for Thursday afternoon, and a huge NCAAF moneymaker for Saturday morning. I also have a HUGE NFL LATE BAILOUT for Friday Night.
Friday's Free Winner: Philadelphia Eagles.
Game 105.
4:30 PM PST/7:30 PM EST.
I don't think anyone would argue the Philadelphia Eagles are one of the most complete teams in the NFL on both sides of the ball. Barring a major injury, they will not only compete for the NFC Title, but also the Super Bowl. Traditionally, this is not a team that puts forth too much of an effort in preseason play. They started this preseason with a big win and cover against the Cincinnati Bengals. Last week, they were outshined by the Cleveland Browns. Now it is expected (check status) that we will see their starters get some snaps here. But I doubt very much this team will jeopardize any of their contributors in their final preseason contest. However, looking at their depth chart, both the offense and the defense have a slew of recognizable players competing for spots. As I mentioned earlier, they are stacked with talent higher than the pancakes at your favorite breakfast establishment. On the other hand, the New York Jets are expected to finish last in the AFC East, and win just 6.0-games. It is true, some of the backups at quarterback, and running back positions are recognizable. But they are not near the level of talent their opponent tonight has in secondary roles. Over the last four years, they have done well in preseason play. This season they started August with a decisive victory at Green Bay. But last week showed their true colors in an embarrassing 31-12 loss against their in-state rivals, the New York Giants. They have a lot to sort out, my friends, and they do have some talent in backup positions. But I don't think they can compete on either side of the ball with the level of talent they're going to line up against tonight. Making the Eagles an underdog is a gift. Take Philadelphia. Thank you.
