Michigan may lack the big elite defensive names that last year's group had but they are definitely top 5 in the NCAA - and it looks like this team quietly is even better. The Wolverines have a history of stopping teams on the ground, and making teams earn every inch on the ground, as they are giving up a tiny 2.62 YD /carry this season so far. Michigan has been finding plenty of good running plays for Blake Corum and will continue to hammer away with their overwhelming ground game. The Big10 is ready to excite!
The worst thing Penn State could do is try to keep pounding if it isn't there - they need to try and pick their runs better. The Lions have shown a bad preference for being pass heavy, when Sean Clifford struggles - which will hurt them. Penn State needs to focus on connecting the intermediate passes, instead of trying to buy time for deep connections and trying to hold up against the front line.
The Wolverines are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 conference games.
