Sports fans, FYI, if the line in this game was lower, it would've most-likely been made a paid release for me today. New York enters this matchup winning three in a row, which does include both Games 1 and 2 of this series, outscoring Pittsburgh by a combined, 19-8. As a matter of fact, going back a bit, they have taken three straight, and seven of the last 10 meetings in this Interleague rivalry. Meanwhile, the Pirates are struggling. There are dwelling in the NL Central cellar at 2-7, which happens to be one of the worst records in the National League. Believe it or not, their lineup is accounting for 1/3 of the scoring output their opponent is averaging. That's right, the Pittsburgh offense is averaging just 3.00 runs per game, while the NY bats have exploded for 9.00 runs per game. Taking the hill today is Warren and Heaney. Neither pitcher has earned a decision yet this season, and both of teams are 0-1 in their outings. Both own a very respectable ERA. The Yankees right-hander has never faced the Pirates. However, the Pirates left-hander is 1-4, with a 4.71 ERA in eight career starts against NY. The Yankees offense is just exploding, with both the long ball as well as the short ball. Combine that with the lack of offense from the Pirates, and their pitching staff currently ranking 29th, with a team ERA of 5.22, and this all compels me to side with the visitor here. Take New York. Thank you.
