The Yankees blew a lead yesterday in the series opener with the Mets to now lose five in a row, and drop them into a tie for second place in the AL East with the Rays. With only a handful of games remaining before All-Star Break, the Yankees must put their foot on the gas pedal, and start winning. It's true, the Mets have had their way in this subway series, taking seven of the last 10 overall meetings, going back to July 2023. They currently sit in second place behind the Phillies in the NL East, trailing by half-game. They have won three in a row as their lineup has started to surge. However, overall, I think we can all agree the Yankees offense, which ranks in the top 10 in every major category, is the better lineup. I feel they're going to break out here today, and get a well needed victory, especially with Carlos Rodon (9-5, 2.95 ERA) taking the hill. The left hander is 3-0 with a 1.15 ERA in three career starts against the Mets. Granted, Frankie Montas has done well against the Yankees in his career. But the right-hander comes off an atrocious outing in his last start on the road at the Pirates, getting shelled for six earned runs in just 4.0 innings pitched. Look for the Yankees to bounce back here with authority, exact some revenge against their crosstown rivals, and get a well needed victory. Take the Yankees. Thank you.
