To put it very simply, New York is playing some great baseball (48-21). They rank fifth in the Majors in scoring, averaging over 5.00 runs per game, and first in pitching, possessing a Team ERA of 2.87. With all the respect to the Kansas City Royals, which are a very solid, 39-29, they are showing signs of cracking. They have lost three in a row and six of their last 10, which does include both Games 1 and 2 of this series. As a matter fact, the Yankees have taken seven of the last 10 overall meetings with the Royals. Going back to K.C., their numbers are pretty good as well, ranking sixth in scoring and 10th in Team ERA. But the way New York has handled them so far this series, I do not see any light at the end of the tunnel for the team. Kansas City has tallied a mere three total runs scored in the first two games of this series. As far as pitching goes, Cody Poteet and Dan Altavilla are scheduled. The Yankees right-hander is 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA, and is expected to make his fourth start of the campaign. If you're wondering, he has held some good lineup in check; Cleveland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Kansas City right-hander will be used strictly as an opener, and isn't expected to go more than an inning or two at most. The scary thing about him getting the turn today is he hasn't faced the Yankees since 2017, while a member of the Seattle Mariners. This isn't the same Bronx Bombers lineup that he had to go up against back then. New York knows they are just 2.5-games ahead of Baltimore in the competitive, A.L. East and must keep their foot on the gas. Taking advantage of a Kansas City team that seems to be slumping a bit right now is definitely something they can do. Take the Yankees. Thank you.
