Friday’s FREE PLAY: New York Mets. Game 953. 3:45 PM PST/6:45 PM EST. Sports fans, if the juice on the favorite was a little bit lower, I would've made this release a premium play today. New York has dominated Washington, taking eight of the last 10 meetings in this division rivalry. They come into this matchup winning seven straight contests, while their opponent dropped their most recent outing. Don't fool yourself by the Nationals four victories over their last six games. They went up against two last place teams in the Rockies and the Orioles. Meanwhile, during the Mets current surge, they swept two very powerful lineup, in the Cardinals and the Phillies. Both lineups account for about the same statistics, basically. So, this game will come down to pitching. Without question, NY has a big edge here. Their pitching staff tops the Major’s, with a team ERA of 2.34. Today they send Kodai Senga to the hill. The RH is 3-1 this season with an ERA of 0.79. The team has won three of his four outings, and in all sincerity, should've won all four. He has allowed just a total of two earned runs in 22.2 innings pitched. Washington’s staff is horrible. They rank 27th, with a team ERA of 4.69. Today, they have Jake Irvin on the hill. The RH is 2-0 with a decent ERA of 3.68, this season. But the team has dropped three of his five turns. He's also given up a lot of home runs, getting plowed for eight round-trippers in his five starts. I just think he's really overmatched here. Especially, against the surging Mets offense, which has accounted for 33 runs scored in their seven-game win streak. Take New York. Thank you.
