FREE WINNER. Providence Friars. Game 698. 4:00 PM PST/7:00 PM EST. Maybe they're not UConn, St. John's, Villanova, or Seton Hall, but don't get yourself my friends, Providence isn't that bad of a team. It's just that playing in the Big East they tend to be outshined. It's true, the Friars are just 14-15 overall this season, but they have covered 17 of 29 contests, and sport a home record of 10-5. They enter tonight's contest winning and covering three in a row and five of their last seven outings. This includes wins and covers in three of four games played on their own court during that span. I'm not gonna’ sit here and try to lie to you, and tell you that they have been successful against Marquette. They have not. As a matter of fact, the Golden Eagle’s has taken five consecutive meetings in this conference rivalry straight up, covering four of those five. Now they did have a one-point overtime victory on their own court in this rivalry back in mid-January, 105-104. This is a game in which Providence did cover. Marquette enters this matchup showing signs of cracking, dropping six of their last nine SU. They are pretty good against the number of late, covering six of their last eight outings. But when it comes to conference play though, this is a team that ranks next to last in the Big East at 5-13 against conference opponents. Their most recent outing on March 1, was an 11-point home loss as a five-point favorite at the hands of DePaul, might be a tough one to bounce back from. They scored just 14-points in the first half. Now there is a chance these two teams might square off against one another again this season in the Big East Tourney which is starting to take shape. Currently, Providence sits in the seventh spot while Marquette is 11th. So, there are a few ways these two teams quite possibly may play each other soon. But that’s down the road. Right now, I do feel the Friars are coming in here with more momentum, and are playing on their own court where they have been very successful compared to the Golden Eagle’s being not so “golden” on the road this season, donning a 1-10 away record. Take Providence. Thank you.
