Play: Money Line: -127 Washington Nationals
The Nationals open their series up vs the Royals on Monday. KC snapped a four game losing streak with a 4-0 win over the Astros. Washington has been trending up with 6 wins in their last 10 games. The Nats surprisingly took 2 out of 3 against the Mariners.
The Royals will start Mitch Spence, who has struggled to a 4.91 ERA while allowing nearly 10 hits per nine innings.
On the mound for Washington is Andrew Alvarez, a young arm who has impressed with a 3.05 career ERA. His breaking stuff is above average and that might be enough to pacify a weak Royals offense.
Washington sports one of the most potent offenses in baseball this season, ranking 3rd overall with 5.38 runs per game and a team slugging percentage of .419.
The Royals are just not equipped to keep pace in a shootout which they will likely need to do with Spence on the mound. Kansas City ranks 27th in scoring and features a bullpen that has blown 16 of its 35 save opportunities. Washington is going to have their chances in this game.
