Houston enters this contest, the No. 7 team in the country, while Kansas is ranked 12th. The Cougars sit atop the Big 12, at 7-0 in conference play. The Jayhawks are tied with the Red Raiders at 5-2 in league action. To say Houston has been hot would be an understatement. They have won 11 straight games, covering six of the last eight outings. A season ago, these two teams met twice, each winning and covering their home matchups. But I think circumstances change things in this matchup. The Cougars possess the top-ranked defense in the nation, yielding just 53.9 points per game. The Jayhawks have a great 1-2 punch in Dickinson and Mayo. But outside of Alabama, no opponent has put up points on the Cougars defense. They also have a very good back court of Cryer and Sharp, are much more accurate from beyond the arc, and are better on the defensive class.
