Houston started with a run in the first, but allowed a two runs in the bottom half of the inning, scored single runs in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 9th with a eight run 7th in between, while allowing three in the 8th and one in the 9th to win 13-6 once the dust settles out West in LA. The pitching match up for this third game of the season with Houston 2-0 and the Angels 0-2 is Verlander coming off an injury against Syndergaard coming over from the Mets. Verlander did not pitch at all in 2021 and threw in just one game in 2020 winning the game and allowing two runs in six innings. In his career Verlander is 15-10 in 29 games against the Angels with a 3.23 ERA and in LA is 7-5 with a 4.15 ERA in 13 games. Syndergaard pitched all of two games and two innings last year allowing two runs on three hits, one homerun, no walks and two strikeouts. Look for both pitchers to struggle some to shake off the rust with Verlander pitching a little better and getting help from his offense in a 5-4 win for the Astros. Play Houston
