We were very high on Georgia Tech this season and it’s unfortunate the Yellow Jackets came up short at the end of the regular season to miss out on a chance to make a run at the playoff. The defense was the main issue for Georgia Tech as inconsistent play on this side of the ball caught up with the Yellow Jackets, but this unit looked better in their finale giving up only 16 points to Georgia. The real edge we see for Georgia Tech coming into this bowl game comes on the offensive side of the ball as the Yellow Jackets bring a well balanced attack ranking 13th in the nation in yards per game. We felt BYU overperformed their expectations and when they went against elite competition the Cougars were exposed by Texas Tech. When looking at their overall resume, BYU doesn’t have a lot of strong resume building wins, but the Cougars did a good job taking care of business in competitive matchups all season. We feel Georgia Tech’s offensive output is being a bit overlooked given how the Yellow Jackets looked against Georgia in their regular season finale, but we like this unit to bounce back as Georgia Tech goes on to cover the spread.
