These two American League Central rivals have met six times this season, thus far, as the last five matchups have all gone under the total. That is certainly a trend that prompts me to raise an eyebrow here. Overall, on season, both teams have played more unders than they have played overs. The Guardians will be without their All-Star, Jose Ramirez as yesterday, the third baseman suffered a fractured left hamate bone. This will be a blow to the team overall, particularly to the offense as he leads the team in runs scored, hits, and stolen bases. Oh, by the way, he also leads the team in base on balls. Let’s not forget he’s among the top leaders in the lineup in on base percentage, home runs, and RBIs. Both offenses rank in the bottom third in baseball in scoring, as Detroit averages just 4.06 runs per game and Cleveland just 4.01 runs per game. Throw into the mix todays starting pitchers have both been outstanding this season. Gavin Williams and Casey Mize take the hill today. The Guardians right-hander is 9-3 with a 3.32 ERA on the campaign, while the Tigers right-hander is 2-3 with a 2.27 ERA this season. Both starters have done well against today’s opponent during their careers. No matter how you slice it, this game looks to be another under played by these two division rivals. Take the under. Thank you.
