Cleveland was in the bottom third of the league for homeruns, but have scored all of their runs on homeruns this postseason a two run shot in game one of the wildcard winning 2-1, a 15th inning walk solo shot to win the second wildcard game 1-0 to advance to the ALDS and in the first game struck first scoring on a solo homerun to go up 1-0, but ended up losing 4-1 giving up a pair of homeruns and a sac fly. The Yankees got a great start from Cole who pitched into the 7th giving up the one run and getting out of a couple of jams early. In this second game the Yankees are turning to Nestor Cortes who went 12-4 on the season with a 2.44 ERA. Cortes was 6-1 at home this season with a 1.95 ERA, 6-0 with a 1.82 ERA in day games and 1-0 against Cleveland in two starts with a 2.19 ERA, 14 strikeouts in 12 inning and a .100 batting average against. Cleveland has Shane Bieber on the mound who went 13-8 on the season with a 2.88 ERA, 8-3 on the road with a 2.65 ERA, 8-4 in day games with a 3.29 ERA, and facing the Yankees for the first time this season. In his career Bieber is 1-1 with a 5.74 ERA in three starts and making his first career start at Yankee Stadium. Look for the Yankees to score a few runs early to pace Cortes and give him a lead to pitch aggressively for six innings in a 6-2 win for the Yankees to take a 2-0 series lead to Cleveland behind Judge and Stanton big RBI hits.
