For a while, Cleveland had a stronghold atop the American League Central division. But dropping seven of their last 10 games, they are now tied for first place along with Chicago. I think this is an ideal situation for them to get a big victory against a solid adversary. Milwaukee enters this matchup sitting in first place in the National League Central with a 4.5-game cushion. It is true, they are one of the best home teams in the league, and it is also true, they took the series opener yesterday, 2-1. But I like the matchup for the visitor here. Statistically, the Milwaukee offense is significantly stronger than the Cleveland lineup. However, today starters negate all that for me. Gavin Williams and Brandon Sproat are scheduled here. The Guardians right-hander has been outstanding this season, amassing a record of 9-3 with an ERA of 3.32. As a matter of fact, the team has won 10 of his 14 starts in 2026. Over his last three games, he is a perfect 2-0 with a 3.63 ERA, and on the road, he is 5-2 as his ERA rises a bit, at 4.04. But, against the National League, this season, the team has prevailed in all five of those of starts. The Brewers right-hander has struggled at 1-4 with a whopping area of 5.70 thus far on the campaign. The team has dropped three of his last four turns, and at home in 2026, he is just 1-2 with an ERA of 6.33. The team has dropped three of his last four starts against the American League opponents, as well. On paper, Milwaukee is a stronger team. However, baseball isn’t played on paper. It is played on the diamond. Take Cleveland. Thank you.
