This is a play on the OAKLAND ATHLETICS for our Monday Free Play. We are taking the big dog here as Oakland is riding an 11-game losing streak but could be in a favorable spot with the unknowns of both starting pitchers. The Athletics have fallen to a horrid 10-45 on the season as they have failed to score more than three runs during this current losing skid. The Braves are coming off a series split against the Phillies to conclude a very average 5-5 homestand and they hit the road where they are 17-7 and as no surprise, massive favorites. Oakland squares off against Mike Soroka who is making his first big league appearance since 2020 after going through several Achillies injuries. He posted a 4.33 ERA in eight starts at AAA and will not be asked to do much here. The Athletics counter with Paul Blackburn who is making his first appearance this season after suffering through blister issues as well as a stint on paternity leave. The 2022 All Star was solid in his recent rehab start. Here, we play on home underdogs with a money line of +175 or more averaging 2.75 or less extra base hits per game on the season, after five straight games where they had less than 10 hits.
