Free Sports Game Preview and Prediction: Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres
Wednesday, September 07, 2022 8:40 PM
Play: Point Spread: -1.5/-105 San Diego Padres
I have two huge winners on the diamond today with my 72% MLB ROUND TRIPPER and MLB TOTAL OF THE WEEK. Join me and together we will bust your book. Today’s Free Play takes place on the diamond where the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres play the final game of a three-game series. These two NL West rivals split out Games 1 & 2 of this series. But the Padres are by far the more talented team here. Don’t get me wrong, the Diamondbacks have been hot as of late, but are still barely in the race of the playoff spot in the NL wild card. Tommy Henry and Yu Darvish are scheduled to starters. Henry is just 3-3 with a 4.83 ERA. The left-hander may be 2-0 in his last two road starts, but in his recent outing last Wednesday against the Phillies, he gave up seven runs on eight hits and four walks in only four innings. Not many pitchers can bounce back the following game from a beating like that. Darvish on the other hand is 12-7 with a 3.26 ERA. The veteran celebrated his 3,000th professional strikeout on Friday against the Dodgers where he went seven scoreless innings, giving up only two hits in their 7-1 win. Since the All-Star Break, he has a 2.98 ERA in eight starts. And when playing at home, the right-hander has been outstanding, posting a 6-2 record with a 2.29 ERA. If we look back at the previous meetings between these two rivals, the Diamondbacks are 3-10 in the last 13 meetings against the Padres, and 7-19 in the last 26 meetings in Petco Park. I’m going with the better team and hotter pitcher here. Play the Padres.
