Wednesday’s FREE WINNER: Milwaukee Brewers. Game 956. 4:40 PM PST/7:40 PM EST. Sports fans, this is an interesting matchup that almost made it as a premium release for me today. I think the line might be a little short. These are two teams certainly heading an opposite directions of the National League. Milwaukee, as many of you know, owns the best overall record in baseball at 83-50, and have the largest lead of any division in the NL. They currently sit 6.5-games ahead of the Chicago Cubs in the Central. The Arizona Diamondbacks are sinking further and further into the abyss. They are in fourth place in the West, at 64-69, 12.0-games back. They have lost three in a row, and six of their last 10 outings. This does include Games 1 and 2 of this series. One thing they are having trouble with, is winning on the road. As I mentioned a moment ago, they lost the first two games of this series, and five straight as a visitor, going back a bit. Overall, away from home this team is just a 30-37. Statistically, their offense ranks in the top-10 in most categories. It has been their pitching that has been their downfall. They rank 25th in team ERA at 4.58. Meanwhile, no matter how you slice it, Milwaukee, whether at the plate or on the mound, is a true force to be reckoned with. They rank third in the Majors in scoring, averaging over 5.13 runs per game, and third in pitching, possessing a team ERA of 3.62. Speaking of pitching, today we will see Ryne Nelson and Quinn Priester slated. The Diamondbacks right-hander is a respectable 6-3 with a 3.63 ERA on the campaign. However, he is not won in six starts going back to mid-July. This month, in four August starts, he is 0-0 with whopping ERA of 5.40. He has not faced the Brewers since 2023 in his only career start against them. The Milwaukee right-hander has been solid, sporting an 11-2 record with a 3.44 ERA. He has won his past 10 decisions over his last 15 games, including 12 starts. By the way, the team is 15-0 in those contests. Coming out of the bullpen, despite being 3-0, he sports an ERA of 5.06. But as a starter this season, he is 8-2 with a 3.01 ERA. In his career, he is 0-1 against ‘Zona, with the loss coming back in July 2024, when he was pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Things are very different since he's been wearing a Milwaukee Brewers uniform. By the way, not only do the Brewers possess the best overall record in baseball, they are also the best home team in the big leagues as well, going 45-22 at American Family Field.
