Various sports have different betting markets that resemble stock markets. Bookmakers offer a wide array of markets for each sports event. It is important to consider them when placing value bets.

Most betting markets involve predicting the outcome of a competition or match. The following are nine betting markets that you can explore.

  1. Each-way, Place, and Win

This market is popular among horseplayers, but you can find it in other sports. A win requires you to predict the side that will lead in a competition. Place bets offer returns when the side you wagered on ends an event in a particular position.

For example, you can predict that Manchester City will be among the top four clubs in the English Premier League this season. Each-way wagers combine place and win bets, and they need two stakes, or a PPH sportsbook will split your stake into two. So, an each-way element can be in any place-to-place or win-to-win wager.

  1. Single Bets

Singles involve placing a stake on one selection. The betting line can be outright bets or straight-line accumulators.

Compare the odds that various betting firms offer to place value bets. Single bets are popular in different sports, including football and volleyball.

  1. Accumulator Bets

An accumulator can comprise many bets on one sports event or bets on different matches. Many sportsbooks need you to make accurate predictions for each bet to win an accumulator. Also, you can create an accumulator that covers different sports.

Some accumulator bets have fixed odds on certain selections, and it can work against you or favor you. It is prudent to calculate the total actual odds that your accumulator has. Their high bookmaker margin makes some punters perceive them as having low value for their money.

  1. Handicap Bets

Handicaps can favor you or work against you. Sportsbooks use them to equalize odds if a competition has two favorites. They can be giving an underdog a goal advantage or weights on a thoroughbred in horse racing.

  1. Conditional Betting

You need to fulfill specific conditions to place a conditional wager. It can be a cash or any-to-come (ATC) bet. For example, you can bet on Liverpool and Leicester City to win. But, place an ATC wager rather than two singles.

The sportsbook will re-wager your stake on Leicester if Liverpool wins. You will have two wins if each side wins and lose your bet if only one side wins.

  1. Forecast Betting

The betting market involves predicting the order of several selections, and it is often applied in horse racing. You can forecast the precise order of the top three horses in a race or those that will lead in any order.

  1. Spread Betting

Spread bets have non-fixed odds, and they involve predicting a specific result. It is common in basketball and the National Football League (NFL). You would lose money if your prediction was inaccurate.

  1. Full Cover Betting

You will have many winning possibilities in full-cover bets. For instance, a Yankee has four selections, and it constitutes a 4-fold accumulator, six doubles, and four treble bets with 11 wagers. You need two accurate selections to make a profit.

  1. Cross-Track Betting

The market is common in horse racing, and it works where different betting pools are on various racetracks. A horse might have varying odds while on different tracks, and cross-track betting doesn't have arbitrage costs.

Some sports have the same betting markets, such as three-way win and whether a game will extend to overtime. The markets often focus on particular match elements like the full-time result. You can find a major football or rugby match that has over 20 betting markets.

Punters can wager on one outcome or several outcomes of a match in a single bet. Some of them place huge stakes on their favorite players and teams.
