By now we all know that the NBA 2019-2020 season is resuming on July 30th and that there will be 22 teams only, competing in Orlando, for the title. ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Walt Disney World will be the center of the basketball universe for the next few weeks, all 22 teams will travel to Orlando a couple of weeks before to set camp and follow the new safety protocols, the season will restart on the 30th and will end on August 14th, the playoffs will tip-off three days later, on August 17th, and by October 13th, the latest, we will have a new NBA Champion, after 4 rounds of postseason play, with best-of-seven series on each round. However, some teams are having a little more trouble than others to get back on track and have a standing chance to fight for the NBA championship, and one of those teams is the Brooklyn Nets. Kevin Durant announced that, even with the season being delayed, he is not ready to come back and will sit out until next season, to make sure he recovers from his injury 100% and not force it like he did when he was still in the Golden State Warriors, when he forced and played in the NBA Finals. Kyrie Irving, the other team superstar, has opposed to playing in Orlando, due to his activist standpoint, he’s all about Black Lives Matter right now, and feels that coming back to action is not the right message right now, instead he wants to stay out and focus on that. Covid-19 effect on the Brooklyn Nets Durant and Irving are not the only players who will not take part in the “new” tournament in Orlando. Remember that the whole New York area has been one of the most affected in the United States during the pandemic, and right now there are two players who have tested positive for Covid-19 recently. DeAndre Jordan was the latest to make the news public, and immediately he confirmed he will not be joining the team in Orlando. Spencer Dinwiddie is the other case, he has tested positive for Covid-19, however, he has not ruled himself out completely, at least until now. On the other hand, Wilson Chandler has not tested positive as far as we know, but he has opted out of the season’s restart and will not play; in this case, he has cited he has family concerns, something that some other players have also taken in consideration, in case they have children with asthma issues or similar, for example, among other situations that could, potentially, end up having any effects on their loved ones. Right now, there are 6 teams in the Eastern Conference which have clinched a playoff spot, they are the Bucks, Raptors, Celtics, Heat, Pacers and 76ers. The Brooklyn Nets and the Orlando Magic have not clinched yet, as the Washington Wizards still have a chance for the upset. Now the Nets have a decision to make, as teams can also opt out of the Orlando tournament. They can still play if they want, but if they don’t, then the Magic and Wizards will automatically clinch their spot in the NBA playoffs. The only thing we know for sure right now, is that the season restart is closer than ever, and it’s time for your bookie operation to get back on track and make sure you’re ready to give your players everything they need to start betting on NBA again.
