The Reds have a comfortable 6 game lead over St. Louis and are sending 14 game winner Bronson Arroyo to the mound. Arroyo is 9-4 on the road this season and in his only start against the Rockies he went seven strong innings allowing just two runs and striking out 4. Colorado is on a hot streak having won five in a row and seven of 10. Colorado is countering with Aaron Cook who has just five wins this year, but three of them are at home. Cook has faced the Reds once before this year and shut them out over 7 innings scattering six hits and striking out five. Look for these two pitchers to duel it out for a while with the Reds, behind Joey Votto, to bust out late and take this one. Play Cincinnati

Barry Zito is 0-7 over his last 10 starts and in his only start against Arizona he is 0-1 with a 17 era. The Giants are hot though winning each of their last four games and seven of 10. Daniel Hudson was part of the Edwin Jackson trade and is 4-1 n seven starts with Arizona, including beating Zito on August 28th. Look for Zito to end his streak and get revenge for losing to Hudson as the Giants bats explode extending the Giants winning streak to 5. Play San Francisco

Chicago won again on Monday as did Minnesota so the extra inning win for Chicago did not help them gain any ground. Tuesday will be even tough as they face Detroit with Justin Verlander on the mound, but they are throwing Freddy Garcia who is 2-0 in four starts against Detroit this year. Verlander is 14-8 this season and surprisingly enough is making his first start against Chicago tonight. Look for the White Sox to back up Garcia with plenty of run support as they do when he pitches against Detroit. Play Chicago White Sox

Boise State has continues to make a name for themselves in a non-FBS conference as they are ranked third heading into the season. That ranking is due to their 14-0 season last year including an opening win over 15th ranked Oregon last year 19-8. Virginia Tech is no push over as they start ranked 10 in the country as they went 10-3 last year. Last year Virginia Tech started against Alabama who went on to win the national championship and lost 34-24. Look for Virginia Tech to learn how from last year and this time beat a top 5 team in their opening game. Play Virginia Tech

Maryland went 2-10 last year, but was tough last year in their final two games losing by a combined 5 points. Both wins were at home and this game is at a neutral sight in Baltimore, but should be more pro Maryland. Navy started 2009 losing two of their first three games, but played well the rest of the way finishing 10-4 including a bowl win over Missouri 35-13. Look for Navy to start off on a positive not this year as they take care of Maryland by at least 10 points. Play Navy

Jonathan Sanchez is coming a great outing against the Rockies where he went 8 innings scattering 5 hits allowing just 1 runs, but couldn't get any run support. The Dodgers have Hiroki Kuroda on the mound who is making his first start against the Giants. Kuroda has a good 3.15 era at home, but that has only translated into a 5-4 record. Look for the Giants to win again this time in prime time on ESPN. Play San Francisco

In the opening game of this series Minnesota won at home 4-3 with two runs in the bottom of the 7th after Texas took a 3-2 lead in the top half of the inning. Carl Pavano is 1-1 against Texas this year and is 7-4 at home as he looks to avenge a loss a little over a week ago at Texas 4-3. In this one look for Pavano to end a personal slide of three games with a 7 inning outing allowing just two runs. Play Minnesota

Josh Johnson owns the Braves this year with two starts so far with 12 innings pitched, 16 strikeouts, nine hits, and just one earned run which is a .75. Even with those great numbers he hasn't gotten a win against the division leaders. Look for Johnson to finally get some run support as he dominates the Braves and earn his first win of the year against the division rival. Play Florida

A month and a half ago San Francisco's Matt Cain did something he hadn't done before and that was beat rival LA Dodgers as he went into the 8th inning, 7 strikeouts, and no runs in a 2-0 Giant win. The Dodgers Ted Lilly won each of his first 5 starts with his new club before a dud last time out giving up 7 runs in four innings at Colorado. Look for Lilly to once again be off his game as Cain backs up his quality performance with another gem. Play San Francisco

Connecticut went 8-5 in 2009 including a bowl win over South Carolina. The Huskies played six road games last year and went 3-3, and Michigan is one of the toughest places to play. Michigan started really strong last year out of the gate winning their first four games, but it was all down hill from there. It started with an overtime loss to instate rival Michigan State and ended up losing 7 of their final 8 games to finish with a 5-7 record. Big things are expected out of Michigan this year especially with the the big house having been renovated in the off season. Look for Michigan to kick 2010 season at home off with a big win over a tough Connecticut team. Play Michigan

North Carolina has had a swarm of distractions with six players already out for violating team rules could have up to 15 total out for violating NCAA rules. With all that it seems like it will be a cake walk for LSU, but this is when teams tend to rally the most as they knew this could be a possibility. North Carolina is ranked 18th for a reason and if 21st ranked LSU wants into the top 20 they will need to stay focused and not take the short handed Tar Heels lightly. Look for North Carolina to keep it and make it a close game if not pull out a win in the end as they stay in the top 20. Play North Carolina

This is a top 25 battle for the opening weekend of college football as number 24 Oregon State heads down to number 6 TCU. Oregon State did go 8-5 last year, but dropped their last two games as they lost the regular season finale to instate rival Oregon and were defeated in their bowl game 44-20 by BYU. TCU, in 2009, went 12-0 in the regular season and lost a heart breaker to Boise State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl 17-10 to ruin a perfect season. Look for the Horned Frogs to extend their regular season winning streak with a monster 20+ point win over Oregon St in from of the home faithful. Play TCU
