The NBA and NHL playoffs continue this weekend, while MLB, AFL and WNBA share the betting spotlight with a ton of racing as NASCAR, F1 and IRL all take to the track.
On Friday night San Antonio clashes with Los Angeles in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals, with the Lakers looking to take a 2-0 series lead. The Eastern Conference finals take over on Saturday with Game 3 between Boston and Detroit, with the Pistons looking to get back into the series at home. On Sunday the Western Conference finals move to San Antonio for Game 3 between the Lakers and Spurs.
On the ice this weekend the Stanley Cup final gets underway on Saturday night in Detroit, when the Penguins and Red Wings face-off in Game 1. The Wings were listed as an early -165 favorite to take the series opener.
On this weekend’s baseball schedule the Angels travel to Chicago to battle the White Sox in a fight between first-place teams. Other interesting series in the American League include Minnesota at Detroit, Seattle at the Yankees, and Boston at Oakland. Also on tap in the AL is Texas at Cleveland, Kansas City at Toronto, and Baltimore at Tampa Bay.
In the National League the series involving division leaders include San Francisco at Florida, Arizona at Atlanta and the Cubs at Pittsburgh. Also worth a look in the NL this weekend is Philadelphia at Houston, the Mets at Colorado, and St. Louis at the Dodgers. Rounding out the NL schedule is Milwaukee at Washington and Cincinnati at San Diego.
Week 13 in the AFL resumes on Friday night with a doubleheader, as Dallas takes on Orlando (-3) and Cleveland battles Tampa Bay (-5). Saturday’s busy schedule has four games on it, including New York at Columbus (PK), Chicago at Utah (+8), Grand Rapids at Arizona (+1) and Colorado at San Jose (-8.5).
In the WNBA the weekend gets started on Friday night with a lone game between Detroit and Atlanta. Two more games follow on Saturday, as Seattle visits San Antonio and Sacramento travels to Connecticut. A three-pack closes out the weekend on Sunday with Los Angeles at Atlanta, Houston at Washington, and New York at Detroit.
It’s a busy day on the track on Sunday, with NASCAR, IRL and Formula 1 all racing.
After last week’s All-Star break NASCAR returns to racing on Sunday in the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Casey Mears was a surprise winner in this race last season, but Carl Edwards and points leader Kyle Busch will be the favorites to takes the checkered flag on Sunday.
The 92nd Indianapolis 500 goes at the Brickyard on Sunday. Last year’s Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti moved on to NASCAR, but there are a few former 500 winners racing this Sunday including favorites Dan Wheldon and Helio Castroneves.
And finally, Formula 1 hits the track in Monaco on Sunday for the Monaco Grand Prix at Circuit de Monaco. Fernando Alonso has won in Monaco the last two seasons, but he’ll be an underdog to Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa this weekend.
