WAC

1. BOISE STATE (11 returning starters) - Always at the top of this conference, Boise returns just 11 starters but has the talent to win their 8th straight WAC Title. Last nights win over Oregon gets the BCS talk going early. They have a trip to Fresno in 2 weeks, then a home game vs Nevada November 17 which will be their only tests in an undefeated campaign.

2. NEVADA (14 returning starters) - Wolf Pack are loaded on the offensive side of the ball. QB Colin Kaepernick and RB Vai Taua both rushed for over 1200 yards, while Kaepernick also tossed for nearly 3000. Battles are won in the trenches and Nevada has great lines on both sides of the ball. They get tested this weekend at South Bend, in what will surely be a high scoring affair. Beat Boise in November, and they should be WAC Champs.

3. FRESNO STATE (15 returning starters) - Last year Fresno was a trendy pick and ended up just 7-6. Now the Bulldogs are back under the radar where they belong. HC Pat Hill is a good coach and will have Fresno motivated early as they have a nice revenge game at Wisconsin September 12.

4. LOUISIANA TECH (16 returning starters) - We are big fans of the Year 3 of any coach. Most of his recruits are in place, and the players are familiar with the system. We get A solid club with good lines, and key position QB, RB and WR back. The do draw a tough schedule, games at SEC foes Auburn and LSU and have to travel to Nevada.

5. SAN JOSE STATE (15 returning starters) - HC Dick Tomey fields his best team in his 5 year run in San Jose. A tough schedule, at USC to open, then home to Utah, at Stanford may have this bunch 0-3 and not feeling good about themselves.

6. UTAH STATE (16 returning starters) - New HC Gary Anderson comes over from being the DC at Utah. After watching this group last night, they don't seem like they will have the usual stumbling blocks that most 1st year HC's go through.

7. HAWAII (9 returning starters) - Of the 9 starters, 7 are on the offense which means they should score some points. Problem is with just 2 returning starters on the defense ball, Rainbows will have to score a ton of points.

8. NEW MEXICO STATE (10 returning starters) - 1st year HC DeWayne Walker has his hands full rebuilding this mess. A tough road schedule, and the fact the program is an utter disaster, not a chance they top last years 3 wins.
